The AI landscape evolves from a dedicated Copilot AI key to Logitech’s new wireless mouse equipped with a ChatGPT-powered prompt button

Logitech Launches New AI-Powered Tool and Mouse

Logitech has introduced an innovative feature that integrates the capabilities of OpenAI’s ChatGPT into their hardware. The Logi AI Prompt Builder is a novel approach to access ChatGPT, allowing users to rephrase or summarize selected text directly through a mouse button. This tool is designed to adapt to user’s preferences, considering their desired tone and style.

For this function to be available, users must have peripherals compatible with the Logi Options+ software. In a stride to enhance user experience, Logitech has also announced the release of a new wireless mouse, the Logitech Signature AI Edition Mouse, which is equipped with a dedicated button for the AI prompt.

Choosing the best mouse in 2024 can be a challenge, with numerous options on the market. However, the introduction of AI functionality might just tip the scales for those considering their next purchase. Logitech’s announcement symbolizes a leap into a future where AI plays a central role in our computing tools and accessories.

Delphine Donné, Logitech’s General Manager of the Personal Workspace business, comments on the release: “New Logi AI Prompt Builder is a shortcut to AI fluency for anyone with a Logitech mouse or keyboard compatible with Logi Options+ software who wants easily to access AI’s limitless potential.”

Users of Logitech MX, Ergo, Signature, and Studio Series devices can now navigate the app to assign a keyboard shortcut or mouse button to activate the AI Prompt Builder. Once initiated, the tool effortlessly rephrases or summarizes the selected text. Moreover, it allows users to fine-tune their queries to match specific criteria regarding tone, style, complexity, or length.

Introducing the Signature AI Mouse with AI Buttons

Alongside the Logi AI Prompt Builder software, the new Logitech Signature AI Edition Mouse features two AI buttons. The first button launches the Logi AI Prompt Builder, while the second offers quick access to OpenAI’s ChatGPT service. Users can benefit from ChatGPT’s response generation without a subscription, and it’s recommended to log out of ChatGPT accounts for optimal performance and unlimited queries.

However, it was noted that the dedicated AI button on the Signature AI Mouse triggered ChatGPT only when the user’s browser windows were not in use. This observation suggests that the ease and speed of accessing AI tools might differ depending on the user’s activities.

The Logi AI Prompt Builder software is already available for free on Windows and Mac through the Logi Options+ app. The Signature AI Edition Mouse will be on sale exclusively on Logitech’s website in the US and UK, priced at .99 and £54.99 respectively.

The Influence of AI on Future PCs

AI’s prominence continues to grow, with many companies announcing the launch of AI-powered PCs. Microsoft, for instance, has introduced what it considers the most significant update to the Windows keyboard in decades—a dedicated Copilot key. This key, along with new advancements in CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs, is expected to define the new era of AI PCs.

While the idea of AI-dedicated buttons on keyboards and mice may take some getting used to, the potential for these tools to streamline and enhance our interactions with technology is undeniable. As AI continues to revolutionize our digital experience, user adaptation and acceptance will likely follow.
