Galaxy S25 Ultra users report mysterious purple tint on moon photos with One UI 8 Beta

What you need to know

A peculiar phenomenon has emerged among a select group of Galaxy S25 Ultra users following the installation of the One UI 8 Beta 4 update. This latest beta, which began rolling out on July 30, was designed to enhance high-quality voice, video, and chat services within Samsung’s IMS Service Emergency feature. However, it appears that a bug has crept into the camera functionality, resulting in a striking purple tint appearing in moon photographs.

  • The issue seems to manifest specifically at certain zoom levels—30x, 50x, and 100x—and is linked to the Intelligent Optimization setting. Yet, some users have reported that the problem persists even after making adjustments.
  • Users are encouraged to report this bug through the Samsung Members app by submitting feedback along with system log data.

While we are familiar with celestial events like the Pink Moon and the Blood Moon, the emergence of a “purple moon” has caught the attention of those experimenting with their Galaxy S25 Ultra cameras. The bug has led to some users expressing their frustrations on Samsung’s Community Forum, where they have shared their experiences of capturing the moon under the new beta software.

One user noted that the purple hue becomes apparent when using the zoom features, stating, “At 30/50/100x zoom, the moon takes on this strange tint.” Another user observed that the issue seems to be exacerbated when the Intelligent Optimization is set to maximum, suggesting that adjusting this setting to medium or minimum may alleviate the problem.

Interestingly, not all Galaxy S25 Ultra users are experiencing this issue, and reports indicate that those with the base Galaxy S25 or S25 Plus models have not encountered the purple tint problem. In response to the feedback, Samsung has urged users to utilize the Samsung Members app to report any bugs associated with the beta version. Users can navigate to the One UI Beta Program section, submit their feedback, and attach relevant screenshots or videos, ensuring to check the option to send system log data before finalizing their report.
