Ominous bottles are a drop from pillager raid captains. They often spawn at pillager outposts, appear in village raids, and lead rare patrol encounters. Generally speaking, the best way to look for raid captains is to search for outposts, defeat any you see, and wait for them to respawn.
What is an Ominous Bottle in Minecraft?
Drinking an Ominous bottle grants you the Bad Omen effect, leading to a village raid or an Ominous trial. Walking into a village with the Bad Omen potion effect actively changes it to the Raid Omen effect, immediately beginning a raid where villagers will invade the area and attack anyone nearby. Similarly, entering a Trial Chamber room with Bad Omen active changes it to the Trial Omen effect, turning your current trial room into an Ominous trial chamber.
There are pros and cons to both situations. If you successfully defend a village against a raid, nearby villagers can gift you items as a thank you. Likewise, defeating an Ominous trial chamber gives you the chance to receive Ominous trial keys to open their respective vaults. These vaults typically give more valuable rewards than their regular counterparts, with a low chance of rewarding a heavy core for you to craft a mace.
