Windows 11 Version 25H2 is Now Being Pushed to All Eligible PCs

Windows 11 Version 25H2 Now Available for Home and Pro Users

The rollout of Windows 11 version 25H2 has officially commenced, reaching all non-managed PCs operating on the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 version 24H2. Microsoft has a well-established practice of deploying new versions in waves, a strategy designed to mitigate potential compatibility issues. With this latest update, eligible PCs can now seamlessly transition to the enhanced features and functionalities of version 25H2.

In late March, Microsoft updated its Windows release health hub, indicating that users of Windows 11 Home and Pro still utilizing version 24H2 will receive the upgrade to version 25H2 automatically, provided there are no compatibility concerns. This transition is particularly crucial as Windows 11 version 24H2 is set to reach its end of support on October 13, 2026. To ensure continued support, users are encouraged to migrate to the latest version, which will remain supported until October 2027.

Version 25H2 shares its codebase with version 24H2, allowing users to upgrade through a simple enablement package. Most new features introduced in Windows 11 are accessible to both 24H2 and 25H2 users, meaning the upgrade experience should be largely unobtrusive. However, it is worth noting that version 25H2 does phase out certain legacy features, including PowerShell 2.0 and the Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC).

When the update for Windows 11 version 25H2 becomes available through Windows Update, users retain the flexibility to choose when to restart or postpone the installation. Nevertheless, it’s important to be aware that once the pause time limit is reached, the installation of the update becomes mandatory.

While Microsoft has not extensively discussed it, Windows 11 version 26H1 is in development but remains unavailable to the public. This upcoming version is expected to debut exclusively on new devices powered by advanced ARM-based silicon, specifically including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Series processors.
