Microsoft Issues Four Insider Builds Across Canary, Dev, and Beta Channels

Microsoft has unveiled a series of updates to the Windows Insider Program, rolling out four new preview builds of Windows 11 across its Canary, Dev, and Beta channels. While significant changes are anticipated in the near future, the current focus is on enhancing user experience through these incremental updates.

Canary

For those enrolled in the Canary channel, the latest update, KB5083824, elevates their systems to Windows 11 build 28020.1812. This release introduces a variety of general improvements and fixes aimed at refining the overall experience for Insiders. Key enhancements include:

  • Touchpad Settings Improvements: Users can now customize the size of the right-click zone with options for default, small, medium, and large settings.
  • Drag Tray Enhancements: The Drag tray now features a smaller peek view, designed to minimize accidental activations and facilitate easier dismissal when interacting near the top of the screen.
  • Windows Security Enhancements: The Windows Security app now provides visibility into your Secure Boot certificate status.
  • Feedback Hub Enhancements: The Feedback Hub app has received several design updates, reflecting user feedback.

Canary with Optional Build Series

Insiders who have opted into the 29xxx build series within the Canary channel can now install build 29565.1000. This version includes:

  • Underlying platform changes.
  • Improvements to the bubble screensaver for users with high refresh rate displays.
  • The previously mentioned Drag tray enhancements.
  • The same Windows Security enhancements as noted above.
  • The same Feedback Hub improvements as noted above.

Dev and Beta

Participants in the Dev channel can upgrade their systems to Windows 11 25H2 build 26300.8170 by installing update KB5083632, while those in the Beta channel will receive KB5083635, upgrading to Windows 11 25H2 build 26220.8165. Both updates bring forth several noteworthy changes:

  • Storage Improvements: Users can now format FAT32 drives up to 2 TB directly from the command line, along with minor enhancements to Storage settings within the Settings app.
  • Network Improvements: The Data usage views in Network settings have been corrected for better clarity.
  • The same Windows Security enhancements as noted above.
  • The same Feedback Hub improvements as noted above.
