Reviving a Classic
Long before the resurgence of Heroes of Might & Magic with its latest installment, Olden Era, gamers were enchanted by King’s Bounty: The Legend. This strategy-RPG, reminiscent of the classic HoMM games, offered players a sprawling world map instead of the usual segmented levels, alongside some delightfully eccentric features, including the option to marry a frog or even a zombie.
The latest sequel, however, took a more subdued approach, sacrificing some of the original’s charm in favor of a more conventional experience. Fortunately, players can now revisit the roots of this beloved franchise with a newly updated version of King’s Bounty: The Legend, optimized for modern PCs. This refreshed edition boasts full widescreen support, eliminating the unsightly black bars that once flanked the screen. Additionally, the maximum zoom-out distance has been doubled, allowing for a broader view of the expansive game world, while the user interface has undergone a thorough readability enhancement.
In an exciting development for fans, Katauri has announced plans to extend these updates to King’s Bounty: Armored Princess next. Currently, the series is enjoying a sale, with King’s Bounty: The Legend available for an impressive 85% off on Steam. The much-loved follow-up, King’s Bounty: Crossworlds, is also being offered at the same generous discount, making it an opportune moment for both new players and returning fans to dive back into this whimsical world.
