Microsoft’s Latest Preview Update and Dynamic Enhancements
This past week, Microsoft unveiled its latest preview update, identified as C-release under KB5095093. In conjunction with this release, the tech giant also rolled out new dynamic updates aimed at enhancing the Windows experience.
For those unfamiliar, dynamic updates are designed to refine the Windows Recovery process, specifically through updates to the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), commonly referred to as Safe OS updates. These updates also extend to the Setup file binaries, enhancing the overall setup experience. The purpose of these Dynamic Update packages is to be applied to existing Windows images prior to their deployment, ensuring a smoother transition during upgrades.
Notably, dynamic updates play a crucial role in preserving Language Pack (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs) content during the upgrade process. For instance, VBScript currently stands as a Features on Demand option in Windows 11 24H2.
This latest release encompasses both recovery and setup updates specifically for Windows 11. Microsoft has detailed the updates as follows:
- KB5095186: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, version 26H1, dated June 23, 2026. This update enhances the Windows recovery environment (WinRE), resulting in a WinRE version of 10.0.28000.2335 upon installation.
- KB5102558: Setup Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2, also dated June 23, 2026. This update improves the Windows setup binaries and files utilized for feature updates in versions 24H2 and 25H2.
- KB5095615: Safe OS Dynamic Update for Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2, dated June 23, 2026. Similar to the previous updates, this one enhances the Windows recovery environment (WinRE), with the installed version reaching 10.0.26100.8737.
Microsoft has indicated that both the Recovery and Setup updates will be automatically downloaded and installed through the Windows Update channel, ensuring users benefit from these enhancements seamlessly.
