As a former delivery driver, I have developed a unique appreciation for the world of video game trucking. It offers a chance to experience the gratifying task of transporting goods without the myriad challenges that come with real-life deliveries. However, there has always been a lingering thought: video game trucking often lacks the eccentricities that make the job truly memorable.
My six years in the delivery industry were filled with surreal moments, peculiar characters, and baffling decisions that often left me questioning reality. In contrast, video game trucking has typically been straightforward—until recently, when Code Wakers unveiled an open playtest for their upcoming title, Prospice: Anomalous Logistics. This driving and delivery simulation promises to inject the bizarre back into the genre.
Exploring the Uncanny
In Prospice, players assume the role of an employee within an organization reminiscent of the SCP Foundation or the Federal Bureau of Control. The mission? To investigate an island described in the Steam listing as “cursed by the corpses of ever rotting gods” and “a place where the world itself unravels.” This setting sets the stage for a truly unique delivery experience, one that diverges sharply from the mundane.
The playtest is currently available on Steam and will remain open for approximately one week, inviting players to delve into its enigmatic world. The blend of logistics and the uncanny presents an intriguing opportunity for gamers who crave a departure from the ordinary.
