Hello Windows Insiders,
Today marks an exciting development for users in the Beta and Experimental Channels, as new Windows 11 Insider Preview builds are being rolled out. This update addresses a previously reported issue where the Feature Flags list appeared empty for those in the Experimental channel. Following the installation of the latest build, Insiders can now expect to see these Feature Flags reappear, enhancing the overall user experience.
Notable new features:
[Modernized Autoplay experience]
Release channel: Experimental
- The AutoPlay dialog has received a significant update, designed to streamline the process of selecting preferred experiences when connecting devices such as phones, cameras, or removable drives to your PC. Rebuilt with WinUI, this refreshed interface aligns more closely with the overall Windows aesthetic, supports dark mode, and maintains the familiar AutoPlay actions users rely on. Additionally, the dialog is now more responsive to text scaling and display settings, with notifications conveniently docked in the notification center for easy access.
[Accessibility]
Release channel: Experimental, Beta
- A new accessibility setting, “Open apps maximized,” has been introduced to enhance user convenience. This feature automatically maximizes app windows upon opening, eliminating the need for manual adjustments each time. This small yet impactful change reduces everyday friction, benefiting users of screen readers, magnification tools, those working in tablet mode, or anyone who prefers a consistent full-screen workspace.
- To enable this feature, navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects and toggle on “Open apps maximized.” Once activated, Windows will take care of maximizing app windows for you as they launch. We encourage users to try it out and share their feedback.
Thank you for your continued engagement with the Windows Insider Program.
