In a significant development for the iOS ecosystem, AltStore PAL, a third-party app store, has introduced the first torrent clients for the platform: iTorrent and qBitControl. The latter offers the capability to remotely manage the desktop application qBittorrent from an iPhone. Previously, such functionality was only achievable through jailbreaking.

Apple’s Stance on Torrent Applications

Apple has consistently maintained a strict policy against allowing torrent applications in the App Store. According to company representatives, these apps are “often used with the intent to infringe on third-party rights.” Additionally, Apple is understandably cautious about potential legal repercussions that could arise if torrent clients were available in the official app store.
