Denmark Urges Caution with Russian Antivirus Programs
Denmark has issued a warning to both public and private companies advising against the use of antivirus programs developed by the Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, according to state media reports.
The Center for Cyber Security (CFSC), a division of the Danish Defense Intelligence Service, emphasized the need for caution when considering Russian antivirus products in a recent statement.
“The good advice is to take a critical stance on whether Kaspersky should be the ones who deliver your antivirus product,” said Mark Fiedel, deputy director of the Center for Cyber Security. He added, “Especially if you operate with things that you would rather not fall into the hands of the Russians.”
Fiedel expressed concerns about the potential security risks associated with Russian companies having access to sensitive Danish documents if requested by Russian intelligence services.
“We have a lot of information that we believe it would be really, really bad if foreign powers, including Russia, had access to it,” he stated.

Furthermore, the US recently announced a ban on the sale of antivirus software by Kaspersky Lab, which will come into effect on July 20. As a result, Kaspersky will no longer be able to market its products in the US cyber market.
In light of these developments, Germany has also recommended replacing Russian antivirus programs with alternative options.
