Microsoft announced upcoming enhancements for Windows 11 to address user complaints about performance, updates, AI overload, and ads. However, the requirement for a Microsoft account during initial setup remains unchanged. Users must have an internet connection and log in with a Microsoft account as part of the out-of-box experience. Scott Hanselman from Microsoft expressed frustration over this requirement, indicating that many within the company are advocating for its relaxation. Despite ongoing discussions within the Windows team about potentially easing or eliminating this requirement, there is currently no definitive plan to change it. The issue is more about internal policy than technology, as technically removing the requirement would be simple, but reaching a consensus within Microsoft is challenging.
