Android Auto’s latest beta brings full Android game support

Google Adds Gaming Support to Android Auto 14.1 Beta

Google has introduced gaming support to the beta version of Android Auto 14.1, allowing users to play select Android games on their car’s touchscreen. Titles such as Candy Crush Soda Saga and Angry Birds 2 are now playable while the vehicle is parked.

Currently, only four games are supported, including Candy Crush, Angry Birds, Farm Heroes Saga, and Beach Buggy Racing. To access these games on the car’s display, users must have the games installed on their phones beforehand. It is worth noting that the games are only accessible when the car is stationary for safety reasons.

This update also marks the first time that fullscreen apps are available on Android Auto. While it is unclear if this feature will be extended to other types of apps, it brings Android Auto closer to the software experience found in cars with Google built-in, which already offer a wider selection of games for parked entertainment.

Google announced the addition of gaming support in Android Auto earlier this month as part of its March feature drop. However, the company has not specified when this feature will be officially released out of beta. In 2021, Google introduced a limited number of basic games running on HTML5 through its GameSnacks service on Android Auto.
