Driveclub can now run on PC via the PS4 emulator, shadPS4

In October 2024, the gaming community was abuzz with the news that shadPS4 had successfully booted the visually stunning PS4 racing game, Driveclub. Today, we are pleased to share an exciting update: Driveclub is now able to enter the game environment, thanks to the advancements made with shadPS4Plus.

Current Performance Insights

While this milestone is noteworthy, it’s important to note that the game is far from being fully playable. Significant visual glitches persist, indicating that further development is necessary before players can truly enjoy this racing experience on PC. Nevertheless, the ability to access the in-game environment marks a commendable step forward.

At present, Driveclub operates at approximately 38 frames per second (FPS) on a system equipped with an Intel Core i5 3600KF and an NVIDIA RTX 3080Ti. This is a notable achievement, as shadPS4Plus has unlocked the game, allowing it to run above the 30FPS threshold. With continued refinement, there is optimism that the emulator could eventually deliver a smooth 60FPS experience on high-end PCs.

To illustrate the progress made by shadPS4, YouTuber BrutalSam has shared a video showcasing the current state of Driveclub on the latest version of shadPS4Plus. While the visuals may not yet meet expectations for playability, the progress is certainly encouraging.

Driveclub has long been a title that many hoped would make its way to PC, and given the likelihood that this will not happen through official channels, the shadPS4 emulator may be the only avenue for PC gamers to experience it. While this situation is less than ideal, it reflects the realities of the gaming landscape.

In addition to Driveclub, there have been developments regarding other PS4-exclusive titles such as inFamous: Second Son and The Last Guardian. However, similar to Driveclub, these games are not yet in a playable state. In contrast, Godzilla 2014 shows more promise, as it successfully renders most of its graphics.

Overall, the progress of shadPS4 is promising. If development continues at this pace, it’s conceivable that players might enjoy Driveclub by the end of 2025. Stay tuned for further updates as this journey unfolds.
