Final Fantasy 7 Remake patch levels everyone up and lets you speed up cutscenes to help you replay it before Rebirth comes to PC

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s PC Release and Exciting Updates

The highly anticipated PC release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been officially announced during The Game Awards, with a launch date set for January 23. Gamers can look forward to accessing the title on both Steam and the Epic Games Store simultaneously, marking a departure from any exclusivity arrangements.

As excitement builds, players may find themselves racing against the clock to complete their second playthrough of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. With an average playtime of approximately 55 hours—even with some sidequests omitted—there’s a pressing need to refresh one’s memory before diving into the sequel. Fortunately, the recent 1.004 update offers a convenient solution.

This patch introduces a “head start” option for new playthroughs, elevating all characters to level 45 and providing a corresponding number of skill points. Additionally, players will receive max-level materia, gear and accessories typically found in the latter stages of the story, extra items, and a generous 50,000 gil. This head start mode is also available for the Intermission expansion, which features Yuffie as the protagonist.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this update is the ability to fast-forward through “event scenes,” allowing players to increase playback speed to either 1.5x or 2.0x. While some may lament this trend as indicative of a dwindling attention span among younger audiences, many—including those with busy schedules—will likely welcome this feature as a practical enhancement. After all, balancing gaming with the demands of modern life can be a challenge, and this option presents a refreshing way to enjoy the narrative without sacrificing precious time.
