There’s a unique thrill in vanquishing hordes of demons and being rewarded with an impressive array of legendary loot. Diablo 4 masterfully captures this exhilarating experience, establishing itself as a premier RPG for action enthusiasts while offering a more cinematic narrative than its predecessors. With a wealth of updates, two expansions, and numerous enhancements, it has solidified its place as one of my go-to pastimes. This May, it joins seven other titles in the Humble Choice subscription from Humble Bundle, making it accessible at a remarkable price of less than per game.
Having followed Humble’s bundles and their monthly selection of Choice games for over a year, my history as a long-time buyer adds depth to my appreciation. This current offering stands out as one of the finest I’ve encountered—especially with Diablo 4 still holding its value at over on Steam. The prospect of acquiring it for under 10% of its usual price through Humble Choice is almost irresistible, prompting me to consider purchasing an additional copy.
Gameplay and Narrative Depth
Set 50 years after the events of Diablo 3’s Reaper of Souls expansion, players assume the role of ‘the Wanderer,’ a customizable character who can choose from five distinct classes. The narrative revolves around the forces of Lillith, awakened by cultists, presenting one of the franchise’s more engaging stories. However, the true allure lies in the exhilarating demon-slaying and loot-collecting mechanics that define the gameplay.
Even after completing the main campaign, which takes approximately 25 hours, players find themselves merely scratching the surface. The core appeal of Diablo 4 lies not in its storyline but in the continuous process of upgrading and refining character builds. Once players achieve their desired setup, they can embark on a new journey with a different class, perpetuating the cycle of engagement. My 60 hours in the game are modest compared to many avid players, illustrating the depth and replayability it offers.
As one of the standout titles in the Humble Choice lineup, Diablo 4 justifies the .99 / £11.49 subscription fee—an unbeatable deal compared to Steam’s lowest price. Interested gamers can subscribe to Humble Bundle’s service, with the flexibility to cancel later if they choose not to continue with future offerings. Each game is yours to keep, adding significant value to the subscription.
In addition to Diablo 4, subscribers will also receive a selection of engaging titles, including:
- Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance
- Crysis 3 Remastered
- Heroes of Hammerwatch II
- Nordhold
- Rogue Waters
- Cubic Odyssey
- Mini Settlers
I look forward to seeing fellow players in Sanctuary for my next Diablo 4 adventure. For those just starting, I highly recommend trying out a Necromancer build; summoning hordes of undead to overwhelm your foes is an experience you won’t want to miss.
