Google starts teasing I/O 2026 with its latest puzzle

Google I/O 2026 Puzzle Teased

When Google is ready to reveal the dates for its developers’ event, it doesn’t just announce them. Instead, it likes to make you work for it by releasing a game where the reward is the date reveal. It’s that time again to put on your thinking caps and help solve the new puzzle for Google I/O 2026.

Google has rolled out its latest puzzle for revealing the I/O 2026 dates. If you want to check it out for yourself, you can do so by heading over to io.google/2026/puzzle/. The landing page says that you’ll have to “Play through all builds to unlock the final bonus.”

There are five different games in total: Hole in one, Nonogram, Word wheel, Supersonic Bot, and Stretchy cat. As you can guess, Hole in one is a mini golf-like game with obstacles. Nonogram is also true to its name, where you have to complete a nonogram (a logic-based picture puzzle that reveals a hidden image). Word wheel is a crossword puzzle, while Supersonic Bot is a Flappy Bird-like game you control with your voice. And Stretchy cat requires you to fill every space on the board before you reach the finish flag.

Like in previous years, a certain number of people will have to complete the puzzle before the dates for Google I/O 2026 are revealed. If everything plays out the way it usually does, it won’t be long before we know those dates.
