Headup founds new indie studio Goon Squad

In a strategic move that underscores its commitment to nurturing creativity, Headup has unveiled its latest endeavor: an indie studio named Good Squad. This initiative marks a transformation of the company’s internal development team, which has previously contributed to notable titles such as Tinkertown and Dr Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine.

Empowering Creativity

Headup describes the establishment of Good Squad as a “significant milestone” in its ongoing journey. The company emphasizes that this new studio will operate with a degree of independence, allowing it to cultivate innovative gaming experiences while honing its publishing strategy. “By establishing Good Squad, Headup is empowering this creative hub to flourish independently, fostering a space where new gaming experiences can take root and grow,” the firm stated.

Both Headup and Good Squad remain under the umbrella of Microcuts Holding, a venture led by Dieter Schoeller, who previously acquired Headup from Thunderful for a modest €500,000 (8,937) in March of this year. This acquisition comes on the heels of Thunderful’s earlier purchase of Headup for €11 million (.86 million) just three years prior, illustrating the dynamic landscape of the gaming industry and the strategic shifts that can occur within it.
