Upon reaching High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds, one of your initial objectives will likely be to locate Fucium Ore. This material is essential for crafting some of the advanced weaponry available through Gemma at the smithy. If you’re wondering why you haven’t encountered this ore during your Low Rank adventures, it’s because it is exclusive to the High Rank tier. To craft the fifth Hope weapon or the third weapon in the Ore tree, acquiring Fucium Ore becomes a necessity.

To obtain Fucium Ore, venture into the Ruins of Wyveria once you have ascended to High Rank. You will recognize this milestone after completing the main storyline and facing off against the Yian Kut-Ku. Since Fucium Ore is not required for weapon crafting until this point, it’s understandable that you wouldn’t have sought it out during your Low Rank quests.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, as in previous iterations of the series, certain materials become available only after reaching High Rank. Interestingly, these materials can often be harvested from the same nodes that yielded their Low Rank equivalents. Fucium Ore exemplifies this concept, as it can solely be mined from outcrops in the Ruins of Wyveria after you have transitioned to High Rank.

While the number of mining outcrops in Wyveria is somewhat limited, you can discover one near the entrance to Sild village, another in area 1, two in area 5, and an additional two in area 8. There are also a few scattered outcrops throughout the region. If your Fucium Ore supply runs low, you have the option to wait for the outcrops to respawn or rest in your tent, spending 300 Guild Points to reset them all at once.
Fortunately, the demand for Fucium Ore in crafting is not excessively high, and it is not particularly rare. Thus, with a bit of exploration, you should be able to gather enough without encountering significant challenges.
