HoYoverse is shutting down the Genshin Impact PC Launcher. It will be replaced by HoYoPlay, an integrated launcher for all of HoYoverse’s PC games, on June 17, 2024. The new launcher will allow gamers to download and launch all three HoYoverse games for PC– Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Honkai: Star Rail. Let’s get into the details.
HoYoPlay: Everything you need to know
From June 17, 2024, HoYoPlay will be the only supported PC game launcher for HoYoverse games. After the grayscale release on each of the existing game launchers is completed, it will let players download all three HoYoverse games, including Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and Honkai: Star Rail. The company says that all of its future PC games will also be available to download and play through HoYoPlay.
During the grayscale release period, the time when each game goes online in HoYoPlay may vary. You can refer to the official announcement for each game for the specific release time. If you cannot find the HoYoverse game you need, you can continue using the old launcher. Once the grayscale release has been fully completed, you will be able to launch and play all HoYoverse games via HoYoPlay.
Genshin Impact Launcher
HoYoverse has announced that it will cease maintenance and support for Genshin Impact PC Launcher on June 17, 2024. Players will be required to update it to HoYoPlay. Notably, all the launcher-related functions will be handled by HoYoPlay going forward.
How to use HoYoPlay
To download HoYoverse games through HoYoPlay, users will be required to click the icon in the bottom-left within HoYoPlay UI to enter the Game Hub Page. For each game, you need to click on the game card and enter its details page to find the download/locate resources.
Once a game is finished downloading, a shortcut for the title will be displayed on the left. You will be able to quickly switch to the details page of the corresponding game by clicking this button.
When upgrading to HoYoPlay from an old launcher, game resources are automatically linked. This means if game resources are already stored locally, you won’t need to re-download them. If you install HoYoPlay by other means, you can link game resources by automatically scanning or manually selecting file paths.
