Jack Black’s Role in Minecraft Movie Leaked
The highly anticipated Minecraft movie has reportedly suffered a leak, revealing images of Jack Black as the iconic character Steve. Eurogamer reported on images that surfaced on social media, allegedly from a document produced by Minecraft developer Mojang.
The leaked images show Jack Black as Steve, sporting a beard and wearing the trademark blue shirt and jeans, while holding a blocky pickaxe. The images also feature other iconic characters from the game, such as a Creeper, cuboid bee, and a cross-eyed pink sheep.
According to Eurogamer, the images were promptly removed in response to a report from the copyright holder, indicating their legitimacy. IGN has reached out to Minecraft owner Microsoft for comment.
Warning: potential spoilers for the Minecraft movie follow.
The leaked images also include text summarizing the movie’s plot, revealing that Steve is captured by a villain named Malgosha and is then rescued by “four fresh visitors” to the Minecraft world.
Jack Black had previously teased his role as Steve in the Minecraft movie in a video posted on social media. The actor showcased his excitement for the role by giving a tour of Steve’s trailer and sharing images of the blocky character.
Other actors rumored to be part of the movie include Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge. Jack Black, known for his role as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, is set to portray Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands movie.
The Minecraft movie is scheduled for release on April 4, 2025, giving fans a glimpse of Jack Black’s portrayal of Steve. The leak comes amidst criticism of Black’s handling of the cancellation of Tenacious D’s world tour following a controversial comment made by his bandmate.
