Riot expands terms of service for content creators
Riot Games, the renowned developer behind the popular title League of Legends, has announced a significant shift in its approach to content creators who engage in misconduct outside of its gaming environments. In a recent update shared on its official website, the company outlined new measures that will take effect starting January 3rd, aimed at fostering a more respectful gaming community.
New Guidelines for Content Creators
The updated policy specifically targets creators who utilize offensive language or slurs while streaming or producing content that features Riot’s games. This initiative is part of a broader effort to safeguard players from harmful behaviors that may permeate their gaming experience.
Riot Games emphasized that the changes are not intended to create an environment of constant surveillance across social media platforms. Instead, the company clarified that it will only take action when such content is brought to its attention. For instance, if a content creator makes disparaging remarks about a fellow player during a live stream, even if those comments are not made within the game itself, Riot reserves the right to impose penalties akin to those for in-game misconduct.
This proactive stance by Riot Games reflects a commitment to maintaining a positive and inclusive gaming environment, ensuring that all players can enjoy their experiences free from toxicity, regardless of where they engage with the community.
