Tequila Works selling off games and IP after going bust

In a significant move within the gaming industry, Spanish developer Tequila Works is currently auctioning its games and intellectual properties (IP) on the platform Escrapalia. This decision comes in the wake of financial challenges faced by the studio, which filed for insolvency in November 2024, following a series of layoffs the previous month.

Assets Available for Acquisition

The auction features a diverse array of assets, including:

  • Publishing rights for acclaimed titles such as Deadlight, Rime, Gylt, and The Invisible Hours.
  • Upcoming projects currently under development, including Brawler Crawler, Dungeon Tour, and The Ancient Mariner.
  • Additional creative concepts that the studio has been nurturing.
  • The corporate identity assets associated with the Tequila Works brand.

Among the items attracting the most interest are the trademark and IP for Rime and Gylt, both of which have garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase.

Tequila Works, founded in 2009, has long been recognized for its commitment to a game-development philosophy centered on “creating things with gusto.” General manager Térence Mosca emphasized the studio’s dedication to supporting its teams during this challenging period, reflecting the resilience and passion that have characterized its journey thus far.
