Warner Bros Games Acquires Developer of Multiversus, Player First Games

The games arm of entertainment giant Warner Bros has acquired the developer of Multiversus, Player First Games, as reported by Variety. The studio will continue to be led by its co-founders, Tony Huynh and Chris White, who will now report to Warner Bros VP and studio head of its San Diego games division, Carlos Barbosa.

No specific figure has been disclosed for the deal. Player First Games had previously collaborated with Warner Bros on the character brawler Multiversus, which officially launched in May after a beta period in 2022.

David Haddad, the president of Warner Bros’ games arm, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, stating, “We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”

Player First co-founder Huynh also shared his enthusiasm about joining Warner Bros Games, saying, “Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall. We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”
