In a significant development within the Milford community, Wilson Guzman, Jr., aged 40, has been sentenced to three years in prison following his guilty plea to drug dealing charges. This decision comes as part of a broader effort to combat the distribution of illicit substances in the region.
Details of the Case
According to prosecutors, Guzman utilized Telegram, an encrypted messaging platform, to advertise and distribute a variety of drugs. The investigation, led by the DEA’s New Haven Task Force, revealed that he was involved in the distribution of counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with fentanyl, as well as fake Adderall pills containing methamphetamine. Guzman reportedly engaged in both in-person transactions and shipments via the U.S. mail.
Prosecutors outlined that Guzman operated out of locations in West Haven and North Haven, where he stored and prepared drugs for distribution. Between June and August 2023, investigators conducted controlled purchases, acquiring over 1,000 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, along with counterfeit Adderall and psilocybin mushrooms.
Guzman’s arrest took place on September 6, 2023, following a thorough search of his Milford residence and the aforementioned locations. Authorities seized a substantial cache of drugs, including methamphetamine pills, Xanax pills, psilocybin mushrooms, and approximately 20 kilograms of marijuana. Additionally, investigators recovered two unregistered firearms, including an AR-15 style rifle and a Glock-style Polymer 80 handgun.
After being detained since September 21, 2023, Guzman’s bond was revoked due to his continued use of Telegram for drug dealings. He formally pleaded guilty to the charges on May 20, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes in the area.
