In a significant move towards enhancing digital communication within the region, Tajiktelecom JSC has unveiled ORIZ, a national messaging application designed to foster secure and high-quality communication for both local citizens and Tajiks residing abroad. The initiative, as reported by News.Az, aims to establish a robust domestic digital environment that caters to the needs of internet users globally.
Emphasizing Performance and Security
The Communications Service under the Tajik Government has articulated the app’s core mission: to create a reliable platform that ensures seamless communication, even in challenging conditions. One of ORIZ’s standout features is its ability to function effectively under low internet speeds. With servers and data centers strategically located within Tajikistan, users can engage in messaging, voice calls, and video conferences without interruption, even when faced with weak connectivity.
In light of recent restrictions on foreign platforms, many Tajik migrants have found it increasingly difficult to maintain connections with their families. The developers of ORIZ have acknowledged this challenge, stating, “This experience has proved that dependence on foreign networks can undermine both information security and social connectivity.” The introduction of ORIZ is viewed as a pivotal step towards achieving digital sovereignty for Tajikistan, reinforcing the importance of local solutions in an interconnected world.
