Android 15 may sport new ‘widget disable’ feature for Force-Stopped apps

Google Introduces New ‘Widget Disable’ Feature for Force-Stopped Apps

Google is currently in the works on a new feature for Force-Stopped apps that is expected to be included in the upcoming Android 15 update. This feature aims to enhance user productivity by adjusting the behavior of applications.

When an app on your phone starts acting up, the Force-Stop function comes in handy. It temporarily halts the application and its processes, serving as a manual reboot without the need to uninstall the app. However, if you have enabled the widget option for the app, it may continue running in the background even after being force-stopped.

To address this issue, Google is introducing the Android 15 ‘widget disable’ feature for Force-Stopped apps. This feature will gray out or disable the widget of the specific app temporarily, effectively canceling any pending tasks or operations. Users will need to relaunch the app to use the widget again, which can be done by tapping on the app’s icon.

Once the app is relaunched, the widget will return to its original state, indicating that it is active. This useful change is expected to be part of the stable Android 15 update set to be released later this year.
