The Personal Safety app on Android is set to introduce a new feature designed to enhance user convenience and safety. In a forthcoming update, users will gain the ability to extend the duration of their “Safety Check,” allowing for a more seamless experience in maintaining personal security without unnecessary interruptions.
Enhanced Safety Check Functionality
Currently, when users initiate a Safety Check, they are unable to modify the duration without halting the check entirely. For example, if a user sets a Safety Check for one hour but needs more time, they must restart the process. This can be inconvenient, especially in situations where continued monitoring is necessary.
However, recent findings from an APK teardown suggest that an “Add Time” option is on the horizon. This feature will enable users to increase the Safety Check timer without needing to stop it. Users will have the flexibility to choose from preset options, such as five or ten minutes, or even select a custom duration that best fits their needs.
The evidence of this new functionality was uncovered by Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug, who activated the option in a recent version of the Personal Safety app. The anticipated rollout of this feature is expected soon, as it performed smoothly during testing.
This enhancement promises to make the Personal Safety app even more user-friendly, allowing individuals to feel secure while navigating their daily lives. With the ability to extend Safety Checks effortlessly, users can enjoy peace of mind, knowing they have control over their safety monitoring.
