Blender’s ambitious initiative to develop a native iPad version of its renowned open-source 3D creation suite has been put on hold, as confirmed by the development team. Initially announced in July, the project aimed to bring a fully-featured multitouch interface to the iPad Pro, complete with support for the Apple Pencil Pro. However, no specific release date was provided at that time.

Recent updates indicate that the timeline for this project has become uncertain. A status update posted in January on Blender’s GitHub page revealed that the iPad development is currently on hold until further notice. While the notice did not elaborate on the reasons behind this pause, Blender developer Dalai Felinto, in a response to a comment on social media, mentioned that the team is now redirecting its focus towards Android tablets.

Despite this setback, there remains a glimmer of hope for iPad enthusiasts. During the SIGGRAPH conference in Vancouver last fall, Blender showcased a live tech demonstration of the software running on an iPad, suggesting that the project may not be entirely abandoned. As developments unfold, the community eagerly awaits further updates on the potential resumption of this initiative.

For those interested in Blender’s offerings, the latest build optimized for Apple silicon Macs is available for free download on the Blender website.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has hinted at “a big week ahead,” with announcements commencing on Monday. Could Apple’s OLED iPad Mini Finally Be a Kindle Killer?

With a similar screen size and a convenient one-handed grip, the iPad mini has long been the Apple device that overlaps most with dedicated e-readers. Now, amid speculation regarding an OLED display for the upcoming generation, the question arises: could the iPad mini finally challenge devices like the Kindle and Kobo? The transition from LCD to OLED could significantly enhance the iPad mini’s appeal as a reading device, making it an enticing option for book lovers.
