Fitbit is enhancing its user experience with a fresh update to the Water logging feature on Android, following a redesign of the Weight stats page last November. This update introduces a new Water page that organizes data into four intuitive tabs: Day, Week, Month, and Year, allowing users to track their hydration habits more effectively.
Previously, users encountered a reverse-chronological list, while the top chart provided views for Week, Month, 3 Months, and Year. The transition to a more modern interface aligns with the overall aesthetic of Fitbit’s other statistics, although some users may find the removal of the “Quick Add For Today” feature from the main page to be a slight inconvenience. To log their water intake, users can now access the main FAB (floating action button) menu, which also includes a convenient app shortcut.
Old vs. New
The redesigned “Log water” screen is now accessible via the FAB, presenting users with standard increments for Glass (8 fl oz), Bottle (16 fl oz), and Large bottle (24 fl oz) in a user-friendly plus/minus interface. Additionally, users have the option to enter a custom amount at the bottom of the screen and adjust the date above, enhancing flexibility in tracking hydration.
While some users have started to see this Water redesign with Fitbit version 4.38, the rollout is still in progress, as it includes a server-side component that has yet to be widely implemented. Looking ahead, there are plans for updates to the Food section and a more native user interface for Health Metrics, promising further improvements in the overall user experience.
Old vs. New
As Fitbit continues to evolve its platform, these changes reflect a commitment to enhancing user engagement and satisfaction through thoughtful design and functionality.
