Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 phones won’t come with Samsung Messages in the US

Samsung Makes Google Messages Default Texting App for New Phones

Samsung has announced that its latest Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 smartphones will no longer come with the Samsung Messages app pre-installed in the US. Instead, users who prefer Samsung’s messaging app will need to download it from the Galaxy Store.

In a message posted by Max Weinbach, Samsung stated, “Starting with the Flip6, Fold6, and newer models, the Samsung Messages app will no longer be preloaded. Google Messages will now provide a new and enhanced messaging experience, allowing users to express their emotions and communicate safely and enjoyably.”

Since 2022, Google Messages has been the default texting app for Samsung phones, a move that has been beneficial for RCS messaging. However, this change only applies to phones sold in the US, according to Android reporter Mishaal Rahman. Versions of the foldables purchased in Canada and Europe will still have the Samsung Messages app pre-installed.
