In a significant enhancement for mobile productivity, Google is rolling out an update to its Docs Workspace app on Android, integrating the capabilities of Gemini. This update aims to streamline the user experience for those who rely on their phones for work-related tasks.
- With this latest update, Google Docs users can now leverage Gemini’s intelligence to generate summaries and pose questions about their saved documents. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who may not have the luxury of time to sift through lengthy texts.
- Furthermore, Gemini’s advanced understanding capabilities enhance its functionality, allowing users to ask specific questions and receive tailored responses regarding their documents.
- This update is available for Google Workspace Business and Enterprise users, including Standard and Plus tiers, as well as those subscribed to Gemini Education and Education Premium. Users on the rapid release track will begin to see these features as of June 9, while those on scheduled domains can expect access starting July 2.
In addition to the enhancements within Docs, Gemini’s standalone app has also received a noteworthy update. Last week, Google introduced a feature known as “Scheduled Actions,” aimed at automating tasks for Gemini Pro and Ultra subscribers. This functionality allows users to instruct Gemini to perform specific automated tasks at designated times or days.
- For instance, users can set Gemini to deliver a morning news roundup at a preferred time each day, ensuring they stay informed without needing to actively seek out information.
- Moreover, Gemini is now capable of collecting and delivering sports scores, catering to the interests of sports enthusiasts.
As part of this update, Google has also introduced a new settings page within the Gemini app dedicated to scheduled actions. Users will find their recurring tasks organized there, along with options to manage any one-off requests they may wish to edit.
