Samsung Find may be about to get a major off-grid upgrade

Recent developments in the Samsung Find app hint at an exciting new feature: satellite-based location sharing. This capability, which would allow users to share their device’s location even in areas lacking mobile coverage, is poised to enhance the utility of Samsung’s location services.

New Features Unveiled

In version 1.8.00.16 of the Samsung Find app, a tipster known as ThatJoshGuy uncovered a new Satellite mode page. This feature is designed to provide location updates every 15 minutes while the mode is active, ensuring that users remain connected to their loved ones, even when conventional networks fail. The sharing process would cease automatically once the mode is turned off, offering a seamless user experience.

Moreover, the app includes fallback options for instances when location sharing encounters difficulties. Users will have the ability to send their position manually via a one-time message, although this would not include the continuous updates available in Satellite mode. Unfortunately, further exploration of this feature was cut short when the app force-closed during testing.

Samsung Find serves as a comprehensive hub for locating Galaxy devices, SmartTags, and sharing locations with friends and family. By integrating satellite functionality, Samsung is set to significantly enhance the app’s effectiveness, particularly in remote regions where standard mobile networks may be unreliable.
