The new Twitch mobile app design includes a home tab
Upon launching the revamped app, users will immediately notice the new home tab, which serves as the primary landing page. This tab acts as a modernized “feed” section, showcasing both live streams and clips. Users can easily navigate through the live feed by swiping up and down, a familiar gesture reminiscent of popular platforms like TikTok. While this feature remains consistent with the previous version, the home tab has been enhanced to include a follow drawer and stories, allowing users to catch up on content from streamers who are currently offline.
Moreover, the other tabs within the app have also undergone thoughtful updates to improve usability.
The browse and search tabs are merging
One of the most notable changes is the merging of the browse and search tabs, a move designed to simplify navigation. While the app has never felt overwhelmingly cluttered, the separation of these two functions has occasionally created a sense of disarray. By combining them into a single browse tab, Twitch aims to declutter the navigation bar at the bottom, resulting in a cleaner and more intuitive interface.
The new browse tab will not only accommodate the search function but will also allow users to explore content by category, maintaining the ease of access that users have come to expect. Additionally, the activity tab will now consolidate all notifications and whispers, while the profile tab will serve as the hub for managing account settings.
Another visual enhancement is the introduction of a plus button, strategically positioned in the center of the navigation bar. This button facilitates quick access to going live, posting stories, and navigating to the dashboard, further enhancing the user experience.
