Addressing this nuance, Google is reportedly developing an optional setting for the Pixel Launcher, as discovered by tech analyst Mishaal Rahman. This setting, found in the “app list settings” of the launcher, will allow users to choose whether app names should be shortened or displayed in full. This feature was initially hinted at in early 2022 but was not included in the subsequent Android 14 Beta and Stable releases.
The latest findings from the Android 15 Beta 1.2 suggest that enabling this new toggle will allow app names to span two lines in the search results and app drawer, providing users with complete visibility of app titles. It’s important to note that this adjustment will not affect the home screen layout, where spacing considerations remain a priority.
While this update may seem minor, it is anticipated to be well-received by Pixel Launcher aficionados.
