Facebook Messenger adds multiple features, including sending HD photos

Enhancing Messenger with HD Photos, Larger Files, and QR Connections

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, is on a mission to enrich the messaging experience for users globally. In its latest update, the social media titan has introduced several features to its Messenger app that promise to elevate the way people connect and share their moments.

High-definition (HD) photo sharing is now a reality on Messenger. Users eager to showcase their photographs in crystal-clear quality can simply tap the photo icon within their chat, select their desired image, activate the HD toggle, and send it on its way. For those moments when one picture isn’t enough, the app allows the selection and dispatch of multiple HD images at once.

But the enhancements don’t stop at visuals. A collaborative twist to photo sharing is emerging with the upcoming shared album feature. Friends in a chat can soon contribute to a communal album, accessible by tapping the group chat name and navigating to ‘media.’ Here, participants can view, download, or remove content, ensuring that memories are easily managed and enjoyed by all.

Transferring larger files is another frontier Meta is conquering. The company has increased the file size limit for attachments from 25MB to a generous 100MB. This expansion is a boon for sharing hefty items like detailed images or compressed folders, with support for all major file formats, including Microsoft Word, PDFs, and Excel spreadsheets.

Furthermore, Messenger is simplifying the way users forge new connections. The QR code feature enables individuals to add contacts without exchanging names or numbers. Scanning a QR code or sharing one’s own via a link is all it takes to grow one’s Messenger network.

These updates reflect Meta’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its suite of messaging apps. The introduction of HD photos and video sharing on WhatsApp earlier in August 2023 was just a precursor to this series of Messenger improvements.
