Fitbit now lets users integrate their Health Connect stats into its app

Enhanced Fitbit Integration with Health Connect Data

Fitbit enthusiasts can now enjoy a more seamless experience as the company begins to roll out its integration with Health Connect data. This enhanced functionality allows users to sync a variety of health metrics, including active calories burned, basal body temperature, and basal metabolic rate statistics, directly from Health Connect into their Fitbit ecosystem.

As reported by 9to5Google, the integration is initiated through a “New Health Connect features” card within the Fitbit app. Users can easily set up the integration by tapping on their device or battery percentage in the top left corner, where they will find the Health Connect card and a straightforward “set up” button.

Fitbit provides users with the flexibility to choose which statistics they wish to sync. During the setup process, a permissions page presents options to select specific data points or to “allow all,” thereby syncing all available statistics. However, it is important to note that the combined health statistics are currently trackable only on Android phones. Devices such as the Google Pixel Watch, Pixel Watch 2, and Fitbit’s own range of watches and trackers will continue to rely on Fitbit-based metrics exclusively.

To view the integrated health stats, users should navigate to the “You” tab within the Fitbit app, where a new “Records” section awaits. Here, users can access a settings page that allows them to choose whether to display Fitbit data only or a combination of Fitbit and Health Connect statistics. This amalgamation of data will include comprehensive information on steps, distance, energy burned, and more.

While the integration feature is gradually appearing across Android devices, some users may need to wait a bit longer, potentially up to a week, for it to become widely available.

In other Fitbit news, a “Walk Mate” feature was recently spotted in the app’s code, hinting at personalized notifications designed to cater to individual health goals, particularly for users averaging fewer than 8,000 steps per day. Additionally, an update to the Fitbit support page has informed EU residents of the impending removal of third-party content from Fitbit devices starting in June. This change will limit users to Google and Fitbit-made apps only, with a recommendation to download any desired third-party content before the cutoff date.
