Google’s Phone App Gets a Creative Twist with Audio Emojis
In a delightful update, Google has begun the rollout of a feature that adds a touch of sonic expression to phone conversations. The latest addition, known as “Audio Emojis,” allows users of the Google Phone app to convey their feelings with more than just words.
Once the feature is activated within the app’s settings, individuals can send an Audio Emoji to their call recipient, which plays a sound accompanied by an engaging animation on the screen. This new form of communication offers a variety of sounds to mirror emotions such as applause, laughter, and even the comedic sadness of a trombone.
During a call, users can access a selection of six emojis, each with its unique sound and visual flair. By tapping on one, the chosen Audio Emoji comes to life, adding a playful layer to the conversation.
Initially spotted by sources like Google News on Telegram, this feature is currently available in the beta version of the Phone app, hinting at an imminent release for all users through a future Play Store update. The beta app users, especially those on a Pixel 8 Pro running version 128.0.6, are the first to experience these animated sounds.
As Google continues to innovate, there’s also talk of integrating the Phone app with Google Meet, allowing for seamless transitions from voice to video calls. This would enable users to switch to a video call with a simple tap, even sending an invite to those not currently using Meet.
With these updates, Google is not only enhancing the functionality of its Phone app but also injecting a bit of fun into our daily communications.
