WhatsApp messenger is crashing for some users after a recent update: What is causing it and how to fix it

How to fix this bug?

While the issue is only occurring for a few users, who have been listed as beta users, they reported that attempting to restart the device or force-stop the app proved to be ineffective. As a result, a new bug fix update was needed for a definitive solution, as announced via WABetaInfo on X. It was observed that after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.15 update from the Google Play Store, the bug-fix update finally addressed the mentioned issue. This means that users can install the latest update to resolve the crashes that were previously affecting their ability to open the app and make or accept calls.

What is Favourites chat filter?

The new feature on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.7, lets the users segregate the most commonly used chats and add them to their favourites. This filter will enhance the user experience by helping users separate their regular contacts from others. For instance, if a user uses a work-group daily, but sometimes other contacts hinder access, the user can add that group to the Favourite. Read in detail how this feature works here. One can think of this feature as an upgrade to the chat pinning one. WhatsApp currently does not only allow more than three chats to be pinned on top. As per the reports, the new update adds another option to the user interface of WhatsApp. Currently, the app offers three options, namely All, Unread and Groups. But after this update, it is expected to show four options by adding Favourites.
