The Starcraft 2 patch 5.0.16 introduces significant changes, including a reduction of starting workers from 12 to eight, which aims to extend early and mid-game experiences and encourage aggressive strategies. The default Mineral and Vespene Gas counts at each base have been recalibrated, allowing for more feasible one-base or two-base strategies. The unit supply count provided by all factions' bases has been lowered by two. For Protoss, Warpgate research has been moved to the Gateway, increasing unit production speed by 35% but requiring additional resources for transformation. Zerg will experience slower Creep spread, more affordable Carapace upgrades, and changes to Overlords and Vipers. Terran Ghost units have increased supply costs, with adjustments to attack range and damage. Quality-of-life improvements have also been implemented. The patch is currently live on the PTR, and community feedback has been positive.
