Google just pulled the plug on Pixel’s AI image generator

Google has discontinued the Pixel Studio image generation app, redirecting users to the Gemini app for image creation using Nano Banana models. Pixel Studio version 2.3 has disabled image creation, following previous feature removals. Existing images in Pixel Studio remain accessible for viewing and sharing. The app was launched alongside the Pixel 9 series in 2024 but struggled to gain a substantial user base. Users are now prompted to use the Gemini platform for their image generation needs.

VWFNDR MBL Is a New Android Camera App and an Actual Camera Is In the Works

VWFNDR has launched the VWFNDR + MBL, an Android camera app designed for mobile photographers seeking a traditional camera experience rather than a computational filter. Founded in Tokyo in 2023 by Álvaro Nuevo.Tokyo and Mireia Gordi i Vila, VWFNDR aims to enhance photography hardware and user experience. The MBL app captures unprocessed Bayer RAW DNG data and JPEGs, offering manual controls for ISO, shutter speed, focus, and exposure compensation, along with customizable user interface options. It includes six built-in aspect ratios and avoids computational photography features, ensuring images reflect what the sensor captures. Each photo taken with MBL is embedded with Content Credentials, confirming image provenance. VWFNDR is the fourth company to achieve C2PA Level 2 conformance and the second to support Content Credentials for DNG files. Sample images have been captured on various Android models, including Google Pixel and Xiaomi devices. The app is currently available for free on the Google Play Store.

He maintains a strict policy against AI-generated content in his projects, emphasizing the importance of human connection in gaming. Chmielarz noted that AI might be more accepted as a tool rather than a creative force and speculated that the gaming landscape will shift dramatically by 2026 with major titles on the horizon.

Nano Banana may bring Google Messages into the creative imaging chaos

Recent leaks indicate that Google Messages may soon incorporate the Nano Banana update, which includes an AI image generator activated by long-pressing an image in chats. Google has begun rolling out Nano Banana across various platforms, including NotebookLM, Google Lens, and Google Photos. NotebookLM users can generate images in styles like Watercolor, Anime, and Retro Print. Google Lens will feature a new "Create" button for modifying photos using Nano Banana prompts. The Gemini app, which includes Nano Banana, has gained 10 million new users and generated over 200 million images since its launch, with a popular prompt for transforming individuals into figurines.
