PostgreSQL on Azure supercharged for AI

Over 80% of developers now incorporate AI tools into their workflows. PostgreSQL is preferred by 78.6% of developers engaged in AI and real-time applications. Microsoft has enhanced its PostgreSQL managed services to meet contemporary developer needs, contributing over 500 commits to the open-source project. The Azure Database for PostgreSQL supports both lift-and-shift and new open-source workloads, while the newly introduced Azure HorizonDB is designed for AI-native workloads. Developers can provision PostgreSQL instances directly from Visual Studio Code, and GitHub Copilot assists in writing and optimizing SQL queries. Azure Database for PostgreSQL facilitates integration with Microsoft Foundry for AI applications and supports high-performance similarity search with DiskANN vector indexing. PostgreSQL 18 is now available on Azure, offering enhanced performance and scalability. Microsoft Briefly Torpedoes Game’s Steam Page Over Screenshot

Minecraft has inspired numerous clones and voxel-based crafting simulations over the past 15 years. Recently, the upcoming game Allumeria was temporarily removed from Valve’s Steam platform due to a DMCA copyright notice from Microsoft, which claimed that Allumeria used "Minecraft content, including but not limited to gameplay and assets." The takedown was triggered by a screenshot from the game’s Steam page that depicted a world similar to Minecraft. Unomelon, the developer, stated that Allumeria does not reuse any of Minecraft's assets. The DMCA claim was generated through Tracer.AI, an AI platform used by Microsoft and Mojang to identify copyright violations. Jens Bergensten, Chief Creative Officer at Mojang, acknowledged the situation and stated he would investigate further. Approximately 12 hours later, Microsoft withdrew their DMCA claim, and Allumeria's Steam page was reinstated.

Hugging Face AI platform used to deliver Android malware via fake apps: don’t fall for this

Hackers are exploiting the Hugging Face AI platform to distribute Android malware through a counterfeit application. The malware, identified by cybersecurity firm Bitdefender, first appeared in an application named TrustBastion. Hugging Face lacks robust filtering mechanisms to regulate user-uploaded content, raising security concerns. Users are advised to download apps only from reputable sources, read reviews, check download numbers and ratings, avoid sideloading APK files, verify publishers and URLs, and regularly scan their devices with Play Protect and antivirus applications.

OpenAI enhances safety, rolls out age prediction measures in ChatGPT
