The author currently uses Windows 11 on most devices due to the lack of Linux alternatives for certain creative applications. They previously engaged in dual-booting Linux and Windows but have shifted away from this practice due to time and data management concerns. Storage issues were a significant challenge, particularly with drive partitioning on laptops. The author finds virtual machines (VMs) and Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) to be more accessible and practical solutions for their needs. They also mention that Windows 11's Secure Boot complicates dual-boot setups and that Windows updates often overwrite the GRUB bootloader, risking data integrity. Additionally, using BitLocker with GRUB can lead to complications. Ultimately, the author prefers a single operating system per device for a simpler and more efficient experience.

A new strain of malware called CoffeeLoader targets Windows users by pretending to be an ASUS utility, specifically imitating ASUS's Armoury Crate. It has sophisticated evasion techniques that allow it to bypass antivirus software. Once installed, it deploys infostealers like Rhadamanthys Infostealer to extract sensitive information. CoffeeLoader operates undetected by executing code on the GPU instead of the CPU, using Call Stack Spoofing to disguise its activities, and employing Sleep Obfuscation to encrypt itself in memory when inactive. It also exploits Windows Fibers to evade detection. To protect against CoffeeLoader, users should download Armoury Crate only from the official ASUS website and be cautious of deceptive links and ads that may lead to malware installation.

Nvidia unveiled its latest RTX technologies, including the Ace suite of digital human technologies, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC). The game Inzoi, reminiscent of The Sims, is one of the first to utilize Nvidia Ace, enhancing character interactions through 'thought bubbles' that reveal emotions and intentions. The AI system is powered by the Mistral NeMo Minitron, a language model with 500 million parameters, using 1 GB of VRAM. This model is limited to NPCs within the player's line of sight and does not change a character's life trajectory. While smaller models can lead to inaccuracies, the potential for larger models in expansive RPGs is significant. Nvidia has maintained an 8 GB memory standard for its mainstream graphics cards, but the demand for more advanced AI may prompt a reevaluation of VRAM offerings. High-end GPUs like the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 offer 16 GB of VRAM, which is becoming more common in affordable graphics cards.
