AMD has introduced support for Fluid Motion Frames 2 (AFMF 2) for its Ryzen AI 300 mobile processors, enhancing gaming experiences on laptops with integrated graphics. This feature is in technical preview and available for download through the AMD Adrenalin Edition app. It is compatible with integrated Radeon 700M/800M graphics and Radeon RX 6000/7000 desktop graphics cards. AFMF 2 can provide up to 78% higher FPS in games like Cyberpunk 2077 when used with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU and Radeon 890M integrated graphics. AFMF 2 works with AMD's Radeon Anti-Lag technology and is complemented by Variable Graphics Memory (VGM), allowing users to allocate up to 75% of system memory as VRAM for the integrated GPU. Users must reserve at least 16GB for the CPU, which may limit benefits for laptops with only 16GB of RAM. With 32GB of system memory, users can select the "Medium" VGM setting for an additional 8GB of VRAM. Games like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Far Cry 6, and F1 2023 benefit from AFMF 2 and VGM, achieving higher frame rates. The ASUS Zenbook S 16, featuring a 16-inch OLED display with a 2880x1800 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, shows significant performance improvements with these features enabled. To enable AFMF 2, users can download the technical preview via the AMD Adrenalin Edition app, navigate to the Gaming tab, and toggle the AFMF 2 option. For VGM, users can select the desired setting from the Performance tab in the app. AMD recommends adjusting in-game settings to maintain around 50 FPS without AFMF 2 and VGM enabled.

The system requirements for Star Wars Outlaws on PC exceed those of several recent titles, leading to performance concerns on handheld devices like the Steam Deck, Legion Go, and ROG Ally. Testing indicates that the game functions primarily on the ROG Ally, ROG Ally X, and Legion Go, while the Steam Deck faces multiple gameplay issues. To optimize performance on the ROG Ally and Legion Go, recommended settings include disabling ray tracing, minimizing graphics settings, enabling AMD Fluid Motion Frames, setting the refresh rate to 120Hz, and adjusting resolution to 900p. Specific in-game graphics settings suggest using low quality for various aspects, turning off ray reconstruction, and adjusting frame rate settings. Star Wars Outlaws on the ROG Ally X and Legion Go provides a commendable visual experience, though not as high-end as gaming laptops or desktops. On the Steam Deck, the game is not directly available on Steam, requiring workarounds for installation, which may lead to controller support issues and crashes. Players may encounter a warning about performance issues due to the game being installed on a mechanical hard drive, but this can be bypassed, although crashes still occur at low settings. Textures on the handheld devices are satisfactory but lack the detail found on more powerful systems. The ROG Ally, particularly the AMD Z1 Extreme model, is noted as the preferred choice for playing the game.

- AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) has been introduced on the ROG Ally to enhance gaming performance. - AFMF can potentially double the frame rates when enabled, as seen in benchmark results for "Cyberpunk 2077." - Certain settings need to be adjusted for AFMF to function optimally, such as enabling HYPR-RX in AMD Software and ensuring games are played in fullscreen mode with VSYNC off. - AFMF can be enabled on a game-by-game basis in AMD Software to optimize performance for each game. - Using the AMD performance overlay is recommended to avoid interference with AFMF.
