Mafia: The Old Country has Denuvo, PC requirements revealed

2K Games has announced that Mafia: The Old Country will use Denuvo anti-tamper technology and is set to release on August 8th. The minimum system requirements are Windows 10/11, AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-9700K, 16 GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or NVIDIA RTX 2070, DirectX 12, and 55 GB of storage, requiring a 64-bit processor and SSD, running at Medium settings with 1080p resolution. The recommended specifications include Windows 10/11, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i7-12700K, 32 GB RAM, AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT or NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti, DirectX 12, and 55 GB of storage, also requiring a 64-bit processor and SSD, running at High settings with 1440p resolution. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and features a narrative set in early 1900s Sicily, where players will control Enzo Favara in the organized crime underworld. Pre-orders are currently available.

Windows 10 support is ending — but End of 10 wants you to switch to Linux

Microsoft will discontinue support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, meaning users will no longer receive feature updates or security patches. A grassroots movement called "End of 10" is advocating for users to switch to Linux instead of upgrading to Windows 11, which has stringent hardware requirements that many older PCs do not meet. The movement highlights the benefits of Linux, such as operating without ads or telemetry, reducing e-waste, and being a free, open-source alternative. There are 240 million PCs that may not be able to upgrade to Windows 11. The End of 10 movement provides resources and support for users interested in transitioning to Linux, with a directory of shops and tech collectives primarily located in Germany.

My week with Linux: I’m dumping Windows for Ubuntu to see how it goes

BitLocker encryption is enabled by default on most Windows 11 systems, which can hinder the installation of Ubuntu. To proceed with the installation, BitLocker was temporarily disabled through the Control Panel. A bootable USB drive for Ubuntu was created using Rufus with an SK hynix Tube drive. The Ubuntu 25.04 ISO file, known as "Plucky Puffin," was downloaded at 5.8GB in about a minute. The decision was made to install Ubuntu 25.04 instead of the more stable Ubuntu 24.04 LTS due to a desire for the latest features. The installation was planned for both a ThinkPad X1 Carbon and a custom-built desktop with an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU.

Microsoft Recall finally launches for AI PC users, along with some other new features, almost one year after Copilot+ was announced

Enhanced security measures have been implemented, including Windows Hello sign-in, data encryption, and isolation protocols, with all data processed locally on users' devices. Recall is an opt-in feature that can be removed. Additionally, Microsoft has introduced an AI-powered Windows search mechanism that allows users to search for files by description. These features are currently exclusive to devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors, with support for AMD Ryzen AI 300 series and Intel Core Ultra 200V series chips expected later this year.
