Chinese manufacturers are developing Windows emulators for Android gaming, with RedMagic set to launch a gaming-focused Android smartphone with a pre-installed Windows emulator for playing PC games. Xiaomi is also developing a Windows-to-Android emulator called WinPlay Engine, which supports Steam and minimizes GPU performance loss. These emulators could potentially compete with WinLator and support controllers, mice, and keyboards for gameplay.

Nintendo Switch 2 will not be compatible with original Switch games at a hardware level due to different architecture. Nintendo is using a method called "Game Key Card" where users will insert the game cartridge and wait for the game to be downloaded from the cloud. This method is aimed at preventing or slowing down Switch 2 emulation.

Most Android devices now support Vulkan, with the latest version, Vulkan 1.4, introducing a feature called Host Image Copy that can greatly improve game performance on upcoming Android 16 devices. Host Image Copy allows for faster app loads, reduces stutter, and lowers GPU memory usage by enabling the CPU to copy image data directly between host memory and GPU image memory.
