The Simple View feature was launched with the December Pixel Feature Drop as part of Android 15 for Google Pixel phones. It enhances accessibility by allowing users to modify multiple settings simultaneously, including larger text and icon sizes, a simplified home screen layout, simplified 3-button navigation, higher touch sensitivity, shortcuts for Contacts, Clock, and Weather apps, high-contrast wallpaper, an increased app grid to a 4x4 display, and locked suggested apps. Certain features are only available during the initial setup of the device. Users can enable Simple View by factory resetting their Pixel device or through the Settings app after setup, though some changes may not take effect afterward. Simple View is not available for the Pixel Fold, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, or Pixel Tablet.

Google is working on an upgrade to the Android taskbar for tablets that may allow users to view their two most recently used applications. The taskbar, first introduced in Android 12L in 2022, has undergone changes to optimize its functionality for larger screens. Currently, it displays up to six pinned apps and two suggested applications based on usage patterns. Recent findings in the Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 indicate that the suggested apps could be replaced with the two most recently used apps, although this feature has not yet been activated. Other manufacturers, like OnePlus and Samsung, have already implemented similar features in their taskbars.

The Google Pixel 9 series is set to launch next week, featuring a revamped Weather app that is currently available for sideloading via APKMirror for devices running Android 14 or later. This version may have bugs and crashes as it is not the final iteration. The new Weather app includes a user-friendly interface, essential weather data, timely forecasts, rain alerts, and may feature AI-powered summaries and detailed maps. The official unveiling of the Weather app and Pixel 9 models is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, alongside potential announcements for Android 15 and the Google Pixel Watch 3.
