‘Minecraft Dungeons II’ Pre-Order & Deluxe Edition Rewards Revealed

Minecraft Dungeons II is set to launch on September 29, 2026. Players who pre-order the game will receive two unique hero skins, a “Twisted” Cape, and a “Twisted Chicken” Pet. The Standard Edition costs .99 and the Deluxe Edition costs .99. The Deluxe Edition includes four hero skins, a “Ghost” Cape, a “Blub” Pet, and the first two downloadable content expansions upon their release. There is no deadline for acquiring Deluxe Edition rewards, but pre-ordering before the launch date ensures access to the pre-order rewards. The game will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC (via Steam).

New GreatXML Exploit Bypasses Windows BitLocker via Recovery Partition XML Files

Security researcher Chaotic Eclipse has released a Windows BitLocker bypass tool named GreatXML, following a previously disclosed exploit targeting Microsoft Defender. The discovery was made accidentally and took four hours. A critical vulnerability exists for users who have used the Windows Defender Offline Scan feature, making them susceptible to the BitLocker bypass. The exploit involves copying an XML file and a recovery folder to the recovery partition and rebooting into the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). If the Defender offline scan was not initiated, users must log in to start it or find a way to boot into WinRE in offline scan state. GreatXML is the second BitLocker bypass tool released by Chaotic Eclipse, following the earlier exploit known as YellowKey (CVE-2026-45585), which has been patched by Microsoft.

At the Summer Game Fest, Xbox announced Minecraft Dungeons II, a sequel to the 2021 game. The sequel features a vast interconnected world for exploration, new biomes, and a feature called Guiding Light to assist players in navigating. It supports up to four players in cooperative play with options for couch co-op and online multiplayer, including matchmaking and crossplay. Quality-of-life improvements allow inventory access without pausing and teleportation between players. Combat has evolved with new movement abilities and mechanics, and loot distribution ensures fairness, with each player receiving unique drops. The game will launch on multiple platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, and will be available on day one through Xbox Game Pass.

Steam’s tired of gift card scams, so it’s killing them off for good

Valve will stop restocking Steam gift cards at retail locations due to increasing scams targeting consumers, particularly the elderly. The company estimates that these cards will no longer be available by the end of 2026, although unspent cards can still be redeemed after that date. Despite the discontinuation, Valve's guest checkout feature will allow digital gifting for gaming experiences.

Windows Ready Print is Microsoft’s biggest overhaul of Windows printing in years

Microsoft is introducing Windows Ready Print (WRP), a new printing model that aims to modernize the printing experience on Windows by integrating contemporary communication standards like the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and Universal Print. WRP will manage newly installed printing devices by default starting in July 2026, while older printers and OEM drivers will still function on newer Windows releases. Users and administrators can choose to enforce or disable WRP-based print management. Additionally, new policies in Group Policy Editor will allow for the selection or blocking of drivers through WRP. France’s Government Messaging App Tchap Got Breached

On June 7, 2026, Tchap, the French government's encrypted messaging platform for civil servants, experienced a significant breach detected by ANSSI. The breach resulted from a compromised user account and involved the education shard of Tchap, specifically targeting matrix.agent.education.tchap.gouv.fr. Approximately 650,000 messages, data from over 73,000 accounts, and about 13.5GB of documents and media files were allegedly scraped. The attacker also claimed to have discovered hardcoded LDAP credentials leaked through a PowerShell script shared by a regional director of the French tax authority. DINUM, the French Digital Affairs Directorate, stated that private conversations on Tchap are end-to-end encrypted and that the compromised account has been blocked. They notified CNIL about the potential exposure of personal data and reminded users to avoid sharing sensitive information in public chat rooms. The breach follows a mandate from Prime Minister François Bayrou in August 2025 requiring all civil servants to use Tchap, increasing its attractiveness as a target for cyber threats. The investigation into the breach is ongoing.

Shueisha Games and poncle announce Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC

Publisher Shueisha Games, in collaboration with developer poncle, is set to release a multiplayer survival game titled Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton in 2026. Microsoft to Allow Users to Disable Web Search in Windows 11

Microsoft is introducing new controls for Windows 11 that will allow users to disable web search and remove Microsoft Store suggestions from their search results.
