Users will generally not need to take action as the new certificates will be included in regular monthly security updates. Specific requirements for different Windows versions include: - Windows 11 25H2 and later: No action required. - Windows 11 24H2: Must install the September 2025 security update or newer. - Other supported Windows 11 and Windows 10 versions: Need the July 2026 update or later before June 19, 2027. - Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 LTSC, Windows Server 2019, and Windows Server 2016: Deadline of May 17, 2027. Devices running unsupported versions will lose access to Windows Update services. Home users with Windows 10 PCs not enrolled in Extended Security Updates (ESU) after October 2025 may miss the critical July 2026 patch. Microsoft has extended ESU coverage until October 12, 2027. Users should check their update history to ensure they have received a cumulative update from July 2026 or later.

Microsoft is planning a significant transformation of Windows 11, focusing on modernizing its user interface and legacy features while addressing diverse user preferences. The new Windows Search capabilities allow users to perform actions like toggling settings directly from search results, which has led to discussions about the relevance of the Start menu. Diego Baca, Vice President of Design at Windows, emphasized the challenge of designing for over a billion users while aiming to improve performance and customization. The Recommended/Recent section of the Start menu has received mixed feedback, with many users expressing discontent despite Microsoft viewing it as a valuable feature intended to enhance productivity. Scenarios for its use include displaying missed meeting recordings and suggesting frequently used apps. In March 2026, Microsoft acknowledged past oversights with Windows and committed to revitalizing the operating system, aiming to modernize interfaces and integrate more WinUI-based features. The company plans to deliver 100% native applications on the platform and is focused on providing greater customization options for users.

Google has updated the search bar on the home screen of its Android app in version 17.65.17, introducing a new "plus" button for easier access to file uploads and AI tools. The redesigned search bar is slimmer with a white background, a border, and a shadow effect. The plus icon on the left allows users to attach images or files, create visuals with Nano Banana, or switch models in AI Mode, while the microphone and Google Lens icons remain on the right. The two shortcut buttons beneath the search bar now have text labels: "Create" for Nano Banana and "Talk" for Search Live, improving usability. The update is being rolled out broadly, but no specific timeline has been provided for when users in the UAE will receive it. Users need to update the app to version 17.65.17 to access the new search bar, and the plus button does not add new features but provides quicker access to existing ones.
