- Android 14 introduces Ultra HDR capability for select devices to capture stunning HDR images. - Ultra HDR images are saved as JPEG files with embedded HDR data in the metadata. - Currently, only dedicated camera apps through the Camera2 API support Ultra HDR capture. - CameraX API used by third-party apps does not yet support Ultra HDR capture. - Google Chrome is one of the few apps that fully supports Ultra HDR on Android devices and desktops. - Different phone manufacturers have their own names for Ultra HDR, such as Pro XDR, Ultra XDR, or Super HDR. - Third-party apps are expected to incorporate Ultra HDR capabilities in the future.
